Abstract
This paper examines narratives and questions interconnected
with the phenomena of globalization and neo-liberalism relating these
with the implications of an education based in standardization. The findings
and analysis are mainly based in the reality of the border between Ciudad
Juárez and El Paso, Texas. This study focus on the culture of
surveillance and its anti-ethical influence, inherited from a context
of hegemony of the capitalist system, patriarchy, and whiteness. Finally,
this paper proposes a curriculum with integrated education practices,
which contextualize the learning experiences of the students in their
daily life. This perspective offers an alternative to the position that
generates oppressive practices and drafts an educational program that
foments equality of opportunities and a democratic participation that
leads to social justice.
